Proof of insurance is not required in the State of Arizona in order to obtain a contractor's license. However, there are contracts that will require proof of General Liability Insurance and Worker's Compensation Insurance. Most customers and/or contractors will also request proof of insurance from a contractor. There are several types of insurance that would benefit any type of business.

General Liability Insurance: This policy covers injury of innocent third parties. The benefits of this type of insurance is that risk is pooled so if the injury of an innocent third party would occur, the costs of the injury would be covered by the insurance company rather than coming directly from the contractor.

Worker's Compensation Insurance: Any business employing any number of individuals is required to obtain worker's compensation insurance. This type of insurance covers the injuries of an employee occuring while performing work duties. THIS POLICY IS REQUIRED TO BE PAID IN FULL (100%) BY THE BUSINESS. It is illegal to not provide worker's compensation or to pass the cost of the policy to the employee(s).

Health Insurance: This type of insurance is also called medical insurance. This helps reduce the cost associated with health related expenses.
